I had a lot of fun making this Baby Unicorn with Apoxie Sculpt.

The design of this Unicorn is intended more for adults than kids, but I've had a lot of fun arranging him on the wooden plaque with his little friend, the rabbit.

The pattern for the Unicorn has him standing up straight, which makes him a perfect example of how all of my sculpitng patterns always start out. Once I have all the proportions of the legs and body the way I want them, it's easy to change the shapes of the legs at the joints to put the animal sculpture in any posture I want.

In this video, I show you how I'd change the Apoxie Sculpt Unicorn's legs if I wanted to use the same pattern to make a sculpture of Pegasus, flying through the air (except for the wings, of course). Patterns make it easy to sculpt animals in any posture or action.

In fact, if I wanted to create a drawing or painting of a Unicorn, I would probably create a sculpture, first, using this pattern or one very much like it. Then I'd use the sculpture as a model for the drawing, instead of using photos or foals, because the lens and angle of a photo can change the shapes and perspective. Using the sculpture instead of a photo would result in a more realistic drawing.

This Unicorn could also be made with another brand of epoxy clay, like Magic Sculpt, or you could use the Silky-Smooth Air Dry Clay recipe on my website. You'll find it in the Paper Mache Art Library on my site.
