Just as we know that a small domestic sinful act (motivated by egoism or ambition, without concern for its effects upon one’s spouse) can unleash a mutually selfish interchange (of ‘tit for tat’), a spiral of ever greater sins, converting the marriage into a horrible relationship (a “living hell”), and even inflicting damages upon others outside the home, as a growing social evil … here in the book of Ruth we have the opposite interpersonal dynamic: good acts which invite corresponding and even greater acts of generosity, and produce a spiral of loyalty, piety, disinterested concern od is a hidden actor), impacting the whole community in unsuspected ways, ending in blessings upon society itself.
