Threats hiding inside your success

I'm finishing up edits of my new book, the Roofing Sales Survival Guide, which is coming soon. And in this section I'm sharing a story about how vividly I remember a time when I'd go to the grocery store on a very fixed budget and there were muffins, and these muffins were $3.50, and I couldn't afford 'em, but I got to the grocery early enough, they'd have the day old muffins on sale for $2.50.

And it took a long time to be able to afford to just buy those muffins. So I couldn't get 'em every time.

But I remember I put 'em in a little brown bag and the minute I get back in my truck, I'd tear into it like a seven year old ripping out a Christmas present, and I'd bite into it and have to bite through that stale crust to get to that gooey juicy inside.

That was so delightful. And I remember in that moment thinking, I will be happy when I can afford without thinking to be able to buy a $3.50 muffin.

And then how that bar. Was raised to the house, to the car, to the toy car, to the truck, to the next house over and over again.

And this, my friend, is one of the threats that's hiding in your success called the hedonic treadmill.

More coming soon in my book.
