E-flite Brave Night Flyer 1.2M BNF Basic RC Plane With AS3X Technology Maiden Flight
This is the Maiden Flite for the E-Flite Pawnee Brave Night Flyer 1.2M BNF Basic RC Plane With AS3X Technology. In this video I fly the plane around and even do a loop on a cloudy windy day. The combination of wind and further trimming being required made this plane not feel that great in the air. I do think with additional trimming that this will be a good flyer and even during the day, the lights were awesome!

This plane is based on the Piper PA-25 Pawnee. The difference in this Piper Pawnee has internal lights, is RC, and does not have the wing struts the scale plane does.
I want to give my buddy John of JohnVHRC a big shout of for helping make this video as cool as it could be! Here is a link to his YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/JohnVH541
Here are my preliminary review notes for this Crop Duster RC Plane:
Pros:
- The lights are amazing!
- It takes a 3S 2200 lipo
- It fits in my car, but just barely with the seats down
- It has a unique look in the air that captures your attention
- The plane flies really well once it is dialed in properly after the mods I mention in the cons section
Cons:
- Even at the specified CG point and control surface recommendations, it did not fly level and smooth until I added bigger heavier wheels and pointed the elevator downward lower than recommended setting.
- There were numerous defects out of the box including a bad battery bay cover, a pilot that wasn't glued in properly, and an uneven horizontal stabilizer.
- The hardware that comes with this kit is extremely poor and should not be included in a kit at this price point. Much better screws should come with this kit.
- The poorly designed tailwheel makes ground handling a challenge

Here is how Horizon Hobby describes this plane:
Overview
The E-flite® Pawnee Brave Night Flyer is a scale park flyer for the intermediate pilot who wants a nimble airplane that can be flown practically any time of day. Like a respectable crop duster should, this scale-inspired design packs plenty of power under the hood. Besides four-channel control and a steerable tail wheel, working NAV lights add a touch of realism that make getting up early for flights at dawn more than tempting. Even more vibrant is the hollow-core structure that’s been filled with a pushbutton controlled, LED lighting system so that it’s practically impossible to lose this model in the dark. In addition, finely-tuned AS3X® technology adds the kind of stability that makes dusting the ground low-and-slow pure joy.
The Scale Delight You Can Fly at Night
The agriculture business attracts a wide range of pilots all wanting to make screaming down on the deck and between power lines a seasonal job. Dedicated crop duster designs truly put the needs of the pilot in the forefront with features like protective cockpits and gobs of power to make tight turns safe. Happening upon a crop duster in action over a lush field of grain is equivalent to an impromptu air show complete with low passes and graceful arcing turns. The E-flite Brave Night Flyer model allows RC pilots to dart across the field just like the real thing, day or night.

Technology that makes flying more satisfying
The advanced AS3X® (Artificial Stabilization 3-aXis) system built into the Spektrum™ 6-channel AR636A receiver is what helps give the E-flite® Pawnee Brave Night Flyer an incredibly solid look and feel in the air. It works behind the scenes to help counter the effects of wind and turbulence by combining 3-axis sensing with specially tuned flight control software. As a result, a nimble crop-duster like the Pawnee Brave is made even better because your workload to fly smoothly is significantly reduced.
This is an earlier and smaller version of the new E-flite Air Tractor 1.5m BNF Basic with AS3X & SAFE Select (EFL16450). I am pondering getting that one as it seems to have better landing gear than this Crop Duster RC plane.
