In this video Historical Artist Mark Maritato works on a military uniform study painting of a Civil War soldier in uniform of the 9th New York Regiment. Known as the “Hawkins’ Zouaves. This study is a reconstruction based on Historical research of the uniform that was issued to this regiment in 1861: during the early days of the American Civil War. The painting is done in Acrylic Gouache (Acryla Gouache) on Bristol.
