Bodycam footage from a fatal Ogden shootout that happened earlier in June has been released.

The Weber County Attorney's Office shared the video Friday, showing the exchange of gunfire that ultimately injured a police officer and killed the suspect.

The shooting occurred on June 6 at an apartment complex near Ogden-Weber Technical College.

During the exchange of gunfire between buildings, an officer was shot in the arm and required immediate medical attention while instructing residents to get inside their homes.

Other arriving officers eventually shot and killed 36-year-old Brian Simonton, who had been continuing to fire shots.

Investigators reportedly found a revolver handgun and empty shell casings beside Simonton's body. They said they also believed Simonton was trying to reload based on live ammunition found near him.

According to the Weber County Attorney's Office, Simonton had been convicted of multiple domestic violence-related crimes and had two active protective orders against him at the time of the shooting.

The injured Ogden officer — a six-year veteran of the department — was transported to a hospital, where he required surgery. He has since been released and is recovering.

An investigation revealed that eight Ogden officers fired shots during the incident.
