As someone with aging eyes, the Vortex Optics Strike Eagle Second Focal Plane Riflescope is exactly what I needed. At 1x, there is no parallax and its easy to acquire the AR-BDC reticle with semi-precise face/stock placement.
The scopes reticle focus was initially set at 1x, and I didnt need to change it when I dialed the scope to 6x. The magnification wheel is easy to turn and has a large cog that makes it easy to grip and keep the scope set at the desired level.
Even at 6x, I was able to clearly see a 1" bullseye and shoot 3/4 MOA groups with my AR-15. It only took me six rounds to zero the scope, and I appreciated the extra battery in the windage cap.
The windage and elevation detents are very fine, so the user has to pay attention and be precise. Its great that the scope has 1/2 MOA/click adjustments on a 1-6x scope, unlike some competitors that have 1 MOA/click.
The scope caps that flip "up" obstruct vision when raising ones weapon from low-ready to pointed in, but I turned mine 90 degrees so they flip to the right, which is better for right eye dominants.
Its easy to keep both eyes open and acquire the reticle at 1x. The caps are a bit flimsy, but they do a decent job of protecting the scopes lenses.
Overall, the Vortex Optics Strike Eagle Second Focal Plane Riflescope is a very well-built scope, unbeatable in terms of value for money. I highly recommend it to any rifle enthusiast, especially those with aging eyes.
