On Thursday, a Russian court upheld the extended detention of Evan Gershkovich, the 31-year-old Wall Street Journalist whom Russia has accused of being a spy. As of this morning, a Russian judge has ordered that Gershkovich remain in Moscow’s Lefortovo prison until at least Aug. 30th, 2023.
Gershkovich was arrested on charges of espionage while reporting in Russia in late March of 2023, and has been detained ever since. Reportedly, the United States government has declared Gerhskovich wrongfully detained and are demanding Russia release the journalist back into American custody.
