In this speed sketching demonstration I'll talk you through, step by step, my exact process for completing detailed and interesting sketches on a grander scale than I usually share.

This is part one, and as ever this means we are tackling the line work - using our pen and ink to get to grips with our scene and pull out those important details and get our composition right.

From brickwork to birds, sea to sky and everything in between in this style of sketching every aspect of the sketch has a little thought put into it.

That doesn't mean, just because it takes a little longer, that it's harder and more challenging - no it's still all the same simple processes that I chat on about constantly on my channel! And I'm sure you can do the same, or better!!

This lighthouse is sketched out on an A3 sheet of paper using lots of fine ink lines. We'll discuss the use of details, hatching, and negative space in coming up with a fun and lively sketch and composition.
