As a leader, what’s more important: IQ or EQ?

According to Daniel Goleman, an internationally known psychologist and also known as the father of emotional intelligence, when it comes to leadership, IQ and EQ are both important but they operate differently.

IQ, or intelligence quotient, refers to a person's cognitive abilities, such as problem-solving and analytical skills.

On the other hand, EQ, or emotional quotient, refers to a person's emotional intelligence, including their ability to recognize, understand and manage their own emotions, as well as the emotions of others.

Emotional intelligence is a competence, a workplace ability, that makes you stand out from others.

While IQ is important, emotional intelligence is arguably more important for leaders to succeed in the future of work.

Leaders who have high EQ are better able to connect with their team members, manage conflicts, and create a positive work environment.

Ultimately, the most successful leaders are those who are able to inspire and encourage their team members to achieve their best.
