A nice afternoon of sailing, following my departure from Big Pine Key, Florida, ends in near calm conditions which persist through the night. Unfortunately I had not yet made into the swift Gulf Stream Current, so progress is slow. For the next several days I am picking my way through catspaws of wind, dodging the occasional thunderstorm, and enduring the scorching afternoon heat as our little ship makes her way north toward Beaufort, NC.
