I own nothing, all credits go to FBIV. Original description below.

The German-American Bund was a nazi organization formed in America by german immigrant Fritz Kuhn. The Bund started as a successor of the Friends of New Germany, disbanded after a soviet spy denounced their activities.
Kuhn tried several times to contact Hitler, but it ended up as a disappointment, although Kuhn did spread propaganda saying that Hitler himself called him "American Führer".
The Bund attracted thousands of Americans into their rallies, criticizing the "Jew Deal" of President "Franklin D. Rosenfeld", but apparently the attention drawn upon him wasn't the good one, and the german-american immigrants who didn't want to be associated with nazis, jews and other groups started to boycott the movement.
As Germany wanted America to stay neutral, any hostilities against Nazism would prejudice Hitler's plans, so the NSDAP officially declared that the Bund was not affiliated with the Reich, and forbad the Bund to use Nazi symbolism.
Eventually Kuhn was arrested, and the Bund was disbanded with the outbreak of the War, as its leaders encouraged Bund Members to evade conscription, which was a federal crime.
