City Took NO ACTION To Cleanup This OVERGROWN Sidewalk So I Did

This overgrown sidewalk was spotted while my wife and I were driving to buy groceries. This side of the street was far better than the other side, in terms of being able to be used by pedestrians, but it was still deemed to be hazardous for pedestrians due to all the overgrowth. I am not sure who owns this property but they're in for a surprise as far as a free sidewalk makeover is concerned.

I get asked all the time if the city is responsible for cleaning up these sidewalks. Here in our city, the owner is responsible for maintaining the sidewalk appearance/safety. This means keeping the weeds cut down and snow removed in the winter time. However, would the city be responsible if the property becomes abandoned? I'm not sure...

As far as mowing the whole entire property, we will see about locating the owner. We don't feel real comfortable stepping foot on an unknown piece of land, however we do care of the appearance of our neighborhood. We'll get clearance from the city if needed. We did mow 36" wide paths to keep the grass short so that snakes and other creatures don't jump out at you while you are walking down the sidewalk. I guess that would be another reason why this would be considered a hazardous pathway to walk on.
