The PENN Battle Spinning Reel Kit is an amazing choice for avid anglers. I was a bit hesitant when I accidentally ordered the older version, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
After using it for a while, I can confidently say this reel is a gem. It is my second reel from PENN and I am extremely satisfied with the quality of their products.
As someone who has had multiple strokes, I was hoping that the spinning reel would result in fewer backlashes and I was not disappointed. It has a smooth and efficient drag system that allows me to reel in my catch with ease.
One of the standout features of this kit is that it comes with a spare spool and reel cover. While I was disappointed that the spare spool and reel cover were not included in the package, I still appreciate the high quality of the kit.
I paired this reel with a 6 10" H&H custom rod for speckled trout, red fish and flounder fishing, and it has not let me down. Although I have not used it at the coast yet, I have also been using it to bottom bounce for sauger, where it performed beautifully.
The drag is smooth and consistent, and I have yet to encounter any problems while using this reel. My only issue is that I accidentally scratched the edge of the spool and the black paint on the bail after a fall while fishing.
This doesnt affect the function of the reel, but it was a bit surprising that it scratched so easily. In conclusion, the PENN Battle Spinning Reel Kit is an exceptional product and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a new reel.
