I think there's a simpler calculation of why we should support Ukraine. The fact is that we've been investing billions of dollars for years to fight the Russian challenge, to plan for the Russian threat, to prepare to face it head-on. Such a good deal for U.S. national security is that we don't have to put up with Russia going to war with NATO if Ukraine wins. We should do what we can for our own security and that of the Euro-Atlantic Alliance by making such a small investment (compared to what the annual defense budget amounts to) to help Ukraine fight a war with Russia.
