"African Lion 2023", which is considered the largest military exercise of the African continent in Morocco, has ended.

The exercise, which was organised for the 19th time this year, started with the opening ceremony held in the city of Agadir, where representatives of the participating countries were present.

In its statement, the Moroccan Army stated that the prominent activities during the exercises were "movement planning exercises, joint day and night land, sea and air tactical exercises, manoeuvres to combat weapons of mass destruction, joint exercises of special forces, air operations, and the establishment of a military field hospital providing surgical and medical services to the public".

The statement also stated that the exercise contributes to the consolidation of Morocco-US military cooperation to increase security and stability in the region, and that the manoeuvre in question will be held in 7 regions of Morocco, including Agadir, Tiznit, Tifnit, Tantan, Mahbes, Kenitra and Bin Jarir.

While the army statement did not provide information about the participating countries, it was noted that the exercise, organised by the US and Moroccan armed forces, will last until 16 June.

The exercise, which was held by the Moroccan and US armed forces in its first years, became traditional with the participation of various countries from Europe and Africa in the following years.
