Ancient Mummy Discovered at Peruvian Rubbish Dump Site

Archaeologists in Lima, Peru, have unearthed a mummy estimated to be around 3,000 years old during a dig at a rubbish dump site. Students from San Marcos University were involved in the excavation and first noticed the mummy's hair and skull.

The mummy is believed to belong to the Manchay culture, which thrived in the Lima region from 1500BC to 1000BC. The body was found in a tomb within a U-shaped temple, a characteristic feature of the Manchay culture.
