Harvard Medical School Morgue Manager Charged with Selling Stolen Human Remains

Cedric Lodge, the manager of the morgue at Harvard Medical School, has been charged with selling stolen human remains. According to a federal indictment, Lodge stole dissected portions of human cadavers, took them to his home in Goffstown, New Hampshire and then sold them online.

Lodge is accused of letting two other suspects, Katrina Maclean and Joshua Taylor, visit the morgue, pick which parts of cadavers they would purchase, and then remove them. Many of the remains were reportedly shipped through the U.S. Postal Service.

Maclean, who allegedly sold the remains to buyers across the country, operated a business called Kat's Creepy Creations.

The indictment states that Taylor allegedly sent over $40,000 to Lodge via Paypal. A total of $37,355.56 was sent by Taylor to an account operated by Denise Lodge, with memos including statements like "head number 7" and "braiiiiiins."

Harvard Medical School (HMS) addressed the incident in a statement titled "An abhorrent betrayal." "We are appalled to learn that something so disturbing could happen on our campus – a community dedicated to healing and serving others," the statement read. "The reported incidents are a betrayal of HMS and, most importantly, each of the individuals who altruistically chose to will their bodies to HMS through the Anatomical Gift Program to advance medical education and research." "We are so very sorry for the pain this news will cause for our anatomical donors’ families and loved ones, and HMS pledges to engage with them during this deeply distressing time," the school added.

Adam Schiff Voted to Be Censured for Falsehoods During Russia Collusion Investigation

The House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to censure Adam Schiff, the Democratic chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, for the falsehoods he told during the Russia collusion investigation.

Schiff was accused of making false statements about the investigation, including claiming that he had seen "mountains of evidence" that Russia interfered in the 2016 election and that President Trump had colluded with Russia.

The censure vote was largely symbolic, as it is unlikely that Schiff will be removed from his position as chairman of the Intelligence Committee. However, the vote is a sign that Republicans are increasingly frustrated with Schiff's handling of the Russia investigation.

In This Episode, We Discuss:

The charges against Cedric Lodge and the other suspects in the Harvard Medical School human remains case
The vote to censure Adam Schiff for the falsehoods he told during the Russia collusion investigation
The implications of these cases for the future of medical research and the rule of law
