During the incubation process, it is normal to do what is called Candling the Eggs. We are looking for viability and development and then later checking for continued growth. This can be done after 5 or 6 days and then every few days or so until "Lockdown" (day 18). Lockdown is a word that describes the time when the incubator has its settings and humidity optimized and ready for chicks to hatch. The eggs are not handled, turned or candled and the incubator is left with the lid closed until after the chicks have hatched.
