Boris Johnson has resigned as a MP in the wake of yet another 'Partygate scandal'

Boris Johnson, the UK prime minister who resigned last summer after a scandalous wave hit him, was forced to resign. According to what I understand (I am American!) The biggest problem was that BoJo and his staff were constantly having parties during the pandemic-lockdown. They then lied repeatedly about it and tried to hide all their drinking and partying. Boris Johnson was already in a mess before the controversy broke out, but it's not surprising. Liz Truss, who took over after Johnson's resignation, served for just 44 days, not even two menstrual periods, before resigning in disgrace in October last year. This ensured a victory for the head of lettuce. Boris Johnson, I swear to God tried to play a power game, saying he should be allowed to become prime minister 44 days later. Nobody believed that he could be politically rehabilitated within a short time frame, but as an MP, he remained in a leadership role in the party. BoJo resigned as an MP. The former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is giving up his seat in parliament amid a longstanding ethics investigation. A report on his behavior as premier should be released next week. Johnson, in a fiery statement announcing the resignation of the legislature, called the parliamentary committee that was tasked to investigate whether he had lied to his fellow legislators about social gatherings held inside government buildings which violated his COVID-19 regulations on social distance as "a kangaroo Court". He had received a sneak preview of the committee's report which, it seems, influenced his decision. The investigative committee replied that his departure statement had "impugned Parliament" further. The opposition parties called the drama a "soapopera" and wished Johnson good riddance. He and others, including the current Prime Minister Rishi Sunderak, had received criminal fines in the past for their conduct during pandemic. Johnson, however, has insisted for years that the inaccurate and misleading statements he made on numerous occasions to Britain's lawmakers denying "lockdown parties," as they were known to be called, did not amount to intentional lies. [From NPR] It is still amazing to me that Boris's downfall was due to this. I am well aware of all the crazy things he did, both personally and politically. The British can forgive racism, misogyny and fathering untold numbers of children. They also excuse international clownery, nation buffoonery, Brexit, and other things. But if you throw a party during lockdown, there will be hell on earth to pay. Anyway, I am glad you finally got rid of him. He always seemed to be plotting some kind of political reinvention. BoJo was able to compile an "honors list" despite the fact that he has been out of Downing Street ten months. He awarded honors to former staffers and allies who were involved in the "Partygate scandal". Avalon Red provided the photos.
