According to NASA, an asteroid comparable in length to New York City’s Brooklyn Bridge will come within 2.6 million miles of Earth on Thursday, classifying it as a “potentially hazardous object.”

Named 2020 DB5, this asteroid measures around 1,600 feet in length, making it the largest among the next five asteroids currently being monitored by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, USA Today has reported.

While there is no risk of a collision with Earth, its substantial size and anticipated proximity as it passes by fall within the parameters that qualify it as “potentially hazardous.”
