I recently purchased the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C3 Baitcast Round Fishing Reel and I must say, I am very impressed with it. The reel casts incredibly smooth and I have had no issues with it whatsoever.
I havent used the clicker much, since I usually troll when I fish, but it seems to do the job just fine. The handle on this reel is great.
Some may prefer to swap it out for a power handle since the original is on the smaller side, but personally, I find it to be just fine. Although, I do kinda wish it was made out of cork, as it would add a nice touch.
When it comes to the performance of this reel, I caught a 25lb catfish on it and it didnt hesitate or grind at all, even after casting numerous times.
One question I had before purchasing this reel was whether or not it had a clicker. I found out that it does, which was a relief. My boyfriend also has this same reel and he absolutely loves it.
One issue I did have with this reel was when I spooled it up with 40# braid, the drag was spinning like it was broken.
After some research, I found out that with this type of reel and braid, you either have to tape one end of the braid on the spool or start the spool with mono line and tie the braid to it.
This is not something Ive had to do with my other baitcasters, as they have holes in the spool to tie the line. After adding a small amount of tape to the start of my line, the drag worked great and was very strong.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C3 Baitcast Round Fishing Reel. I also appreciate the fact that the left-handed reel (4601) is made in Sweden.
It just goes to show the quality and attention to detail put into the making of this reel.
