Afshin Rattansi goes underground on the new left-wing party Left Unity. Spokesperson Peter Green says there needs to be a party on the left providing an alternative to austerity and cuts, and Labour have been failing to do it. Noel ‘Razor’ Smith, commissioning editor of Inside Time, the magazine for inmates, explains there is a crisis in the British prison system, and ‘prisons haven’t been this bad since the 1970s.’ He thinks Chris Grayling has failed and his cuts and austerity are the cause of not just poor conditions, but an increase in suicides. We look at Operation Black Eagle, which sees a joint exercise between UK and Polish troops to reassure Eastern Europe over Russia. In Breaking Views we take a look at misleading headlines, with the Times announcing a new cold war and the forex fines making the news. And with the IAEA meeting to discuss Iran’s nuclear programme we look at Britain’s position on nuclear weapons.
