There is some relief for residents evacuated from the northern B.C. town of Tumbler Ridge, which is threatened by a wildfire that is burning just a few kilometres from the community, after winds in the area shifted eastward.

It has officials optimistic in the fight against the nearby West Kiskatinaw wildfire.

“We had a bit of cooler temperatures overnight and we caught a really big break,” said Forrest Tower, a fire information officer.

Rumina Daya has more on efforts to protect the northern community from the massive fire.
