After a brief period of roaming through backyards in Northeast D.C. and spending a few hours perched in a tree on Friday morning, a large black bear has been successfully captured and may soon be returned to its natural habitat.

According to the police, the bear was tranquilized in a backyard located near Franklin Street and 13th Street in the Brentwood-Brookland neighborhood, around 10:15 a.m, WTOP News has reported.

Subsequently, the slumbering bear, deemed to be in good health by officials, was carefully placed inside a steel cage and loaded onto an animal rescue truck, bringing a peaceful resolution to the unfolding events that began earlier in the day.
