When people claimed that service to God was vain, He replied that He would distinguish the righteous from the wicked. The wicked would be destroyed but those who feared God would be blessed. So the people should obey His law. Then God promised to send Elijah the prophet to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and vice versa.
