The Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station (Ukrainian: Каховська ГЕС; commonly the Kakhovka Dam) was a run-of-river power plant from 1956 on the Dnieper River in Nova Kakhovka, Ukraine.

On the morning of 6 June 2023 (2023-06-06), an explosion of the structures of the dam occurred. The central section of the 3.2 km wide dam was effectively destroyed, leading to widespread flooding downstream.

More than 17,000 people from the Ukrainian-controlled right bank of the Dnieper are being evacuated. More than 25,000 people need evacuation in the territory occupied by Russia. All of them lost real estate and property.
