Long Term Food Storage Tip - Mylar Bags and Oxygen Absorbers

Long term food storage is important. The basic level is to store food and rotate it so that you are constantly replacing the oldest food in your storage. But what if there was an easier way. A way to store food for 5-10 years (or even longer).
That's where mylar bags and oxygen absorbers come in handy.
Step 1: pour your rice/oats etc into the mylar bag.
Step 2: add oxygen absorbers (number depends on the size of your mylar bag).
Step 3: squeeze air out of bag, use a sealer (such as a hair straightener) to seal the mylar bag.
Step 4: overnight the bag will tighten as the oxygen absorbers do their job.
Step 5 (ideally): store the mylar bagged food into some sort of container that is insect and rodent proof.
Step 6: go help others do the same.
Step 7: keep those vege gardens going :)
