Transformed thrift store find - Upcycled Serving Tray

I purchased this older serving tray from a thrift store near my house for just under two dollars. With a little tender loving care and some acrylic pouring I refreshed it and made it the centerpiece and it only cost about $2 for the tray and another $3 for the other materials.

Buying from a thrift store and upcycling common household items is a great way to create functional art and to create a unique décor item for you home.

With this piece I cleaned it really well, spray painted the base black, prepped the acrylic tray, and did a Dutch Pour with gold, copper, white, and black paint. Then I sealed the tray and the platter with varnish. It was a very easy and very cheap DIY craft project to do at home.
