Chicago's streets once again became a battleground on Wednesday evening as a shocking incident of brazen violence unfolded, leaving a 14-year-old boy dead and several others injured. A newly obtained video, exclusively provided to CWBChicago, captures the horrifying moments when four individuals, at least two of them armed with machine guns, unleashed a torrent of gunfire in broad daylight.

The haunting footage reveals a grim reality that plagues the city's neighborhoods, painting a vivid picture of the escalating violence that has gripped Chicago. As the clock struck 8:20 p.m. on June 1, four individuals were captured strolling across a vacant lot in the 4200 block of South Wells. Little did anyone know that this seemingly ordinary evening would be marred by tragedy.

As the group approached the Wells Street side of the lot, a minivan made its way down the street. Instinctively, the armed individuals sought cover behind a shrub, their intentions becoming clear as they rapidly advanced onto the sidewalk. In a brazen display of audacity, they unleashed a barrage of gunfire, aimed directly at a crowd standing just off-screen.

The video, although mercifully not showing anyone being injured, paints a chilling picture of the chaos that ensued. The weapons wielded by at least two of the assailants fired automatically, unleashing a hailstorm of bullets in a machine gun-style fashion. The other two offenders, not to be outdone, joined in the barrage, firing their weapons into the street with reckless abandon.

In the wake of yet another tragic incident of violence in Chicago, it is imperative that we engage in an honest conversation about the effectiveness of gun control measures in curbing the escalating bloodshed. The newly obtained video capturing the horrifying machine gun attack serves as a stark reminder that simply passing more gun control laws will not bring an end to the senseless violence that plagues inner cities like Chicago.
