I have to say, the Weston Hamburger, Crabcake and Sausage Press is the best press I have ever used for making uniform patties. Regardless of the thickness I want, the patties always come out looking great.
One issue I had with the press was the slop in the threaded riser piece, which resulted in slanted patties with one edge thinner than the other. To solve this issue, my neighbor and I drilled the riser and made some brass bushings to press into it.
After cleaning up the rest of the slop, we modified an M16-1.5 metric nut to lock the riser against the top housing at the desired depth. Now, the press works fabulously and is very tight!
I love this press and its ability to make potato patties and other types of patties with ease. I found that even when we didnt adjust the plunger, some patties came out the sides, but that was more of an operator error.
Overall, this press is better than any plastic press Ive used and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a more professional-grade press.
