Microsoft has agreed to pay a $20 million fine to the Federal Trade Commission for violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act through its Xbox Live gaming service. The FTC found that the tech giant collected personal information such as images, videos, and audio of children under 13 years old. The FTC also said Microsoft stored personal information of children, such as their real names, who began to sign up for Xbox Live but didn’t complete the process.
