Astronomers have been caught off guard by a mysterious object that has been lurking since the early hours of the Universe. Thanks to the James Webb Space Telescope's incredibly powerful sensors, which managed to record this elusive object, researchers have discovered a black hole near the frontier of the cosmos, after the discovery of the oldest galaxy. The supermassive black hole, which is 10 million times the mass of the Sun, is very active and actively growing as it devours up matter from the space around it, according to observations made with the James Webb Space Telescope.

Why is this enormous black hole at the universe's edge so fascinating and terrifying? When the James Webb Space Telescope peered into the past, what did it see?

Let's find out!
