Greek word of the day- †θέλω thélō, thel'-o; apparently strengthened from the alternate form of G138; to determine (as an active option from subjective impulse; whereas G1014 properly denotes rather a passive acquiescence in objective considerations), i.e. choose or prefer (literally or figuratively); by implication, to wish, i.e. be inclined to (sometimes adverbially, gladly); impersonally for the future tense, to be about to; by Hebraism, to delight in:—desire, be disposed (forward), intend, list, love, mean, please, have rather, (be) will (have, -ling, - ling(-ly)).

Ephesians 5:8-20

See vv. 8-10: We must judge what the world says is reasonable on the basis of what God says is true.

See vv. 11-14- is telling us besides separating from darkness, as Christians we also to expose it. But first as Christians we must come out of our own hiding first in order for us to be exposed ourselves. Coming out of our hiding is speaking of repentance of sins through confession.

See vv.15-17: Our goal as Christians is not to abandon the world, but keep ourselves in Christ. We are to renounce the falleness of this evil world, and not creation itself.

See. vv. 18-20: Following our repentance, a surge of life and joy wells forth.

Matthew 18:10-20

Biggest takeaways from the readings is "Finding the Lost Sheep"- and "Discipline in the Church"

Christ unlike the earthly shepherds, He sees value in the one lost sheep, and that He will leave others at the risk to save the one.

Church discipline is based on mutual correction- sin and correction are to remain in private, unless the the person refuses to repent. All correction we do must be done with great amount of care and humility, the biggest concern is always being the salvation of the offender. Correction is important so the sin does not spread to others.

Is a prophecy of our Lord Jesus Christ, His death and Resurrection and the inheritance He won for Himself, which is the Church- Christ is the Bridegroom...
