It's true. I am not a native southerner. Southerner, yes, very much so, with long time roots in the American south, but, alas, not a native southerner. Having said that, what happened in the Quad Cities has impacted me profoundly. It's a weird feeling hearing that something like this happened in a pretty average midwestern city (well, other than the high crime).
