Promising Blood Test for Over 50 Types of Cancer Shown in NHS Trial

A blood test known as the Galleri test has demonstrated promising results in detecting more than 50 types of cancer in a major NHS trial. The test accurately identified two-thirds of cancers among 5,000 individuals with suspected symptoms who visited their GP in England or Wales.

In 85% of positive cases, the test also identified the primary site of cancer, which is crucial for effective treatment. While the test is still a work in progress, it has the potential to increase the number of cancers detected and improve patient outcomes.
