Batman: Arkham City is an Action-Adventure and Stealth video game based on the Batman comic book series from DC Comics. The game is distributed for: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. It was developed by Rocksteady Studios and was published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment. It is the sequel to the 2009 game Batman: Arkham Asylum. Officially announced during the start of the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards. Written by Paul Dini with Paul Crocker and Sefton Hill, it stars the voices of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and Joker, respectively. The game is presented in third person and shows Batman trapped in Arkham City, a super prison run by Hugo Strange, who has a sinister plan called Protocol 10. In addition to Batman, Catwoman is also a playable character. Arkham City was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 11, and for PC a month later. The game received critical acclaim, particularly for its plot, characters, soundtrack, and combat. It is the highest ranked game of 2011, according to the review site Metacritic. The game won several awards, including Game of the Year. A prequel, Batman: Arkham Origins, was released in 2013 and a sequel, Batman: Arkham Knight, in 2015
