In recent months, Helga Zepp-LaRouche has frequently referred to the unstoppable drive of the Global South—the vast majority of Mankind and its nation-states—to put an end to centuries of colonial looting and servitude, once and for all. She has urged the United States and Europe, in particular, to take note of the sea-change, and to stop their governments from driving the world to the edge of nuclear war to defend their bankrupt and superannuated financial system.

For those who may have thought Zepp-LaRouche’s evaluation mistaken or exaggerated, please take note of the recent activities and statements of Brazilian President Lula da Silva, which are exemplary of that process. In his closing comments to the May 30 Unasur meeting in Brasilia, which pulled together the Presidents of each of South America’s 12 nations that are members of that group, Lula remarked:

“I conclude paraphrasing Ambassador Samuel Pinheiro Guimarães, who was secretary general of Itamaraty [Brazil’s Foreign Ministry]: We must refuse to spend another 500 years in the periphery. The human and material conditions for our sovereign development are in our hands.”

Steps to bring that demand to fruition are systematically being worked on in preparation for the August 22-24 summit in South Africa of the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa); by the ongoing meeting of the BRICS New Development Bank in Shanghai; by China in its Belt and Road Initiative and its global anti-poverty campaign; by Russia in its commitment to Africa’s development—and to being a bulwark against the rise of a new fascism across Europe, starting in Ukraine.

The United States should be a natural ally of that process—as it was with George Washington, Quincy Adams, Lincoln, FDR, and Kennedy. But, as Lyndon LaRouche frequently commented, a paradigm shift towards deindustrialization and decay in the U.S. began with the assassination of JFK in 1963 and the cover-up that followed.

Today, with the planet at the edge of nuclear war as the lawful result of that shift, both the U.S. and the world as a whole urgently need JFK’s vision of peace, as best expressed in his June 10, 1963 American University speech. It is time to “un-murder” JFK, and reawaken his spirit among us. To that end, the Schiller Institute has announced it will hold an online conference on June 10, the 60th anniversary of that speech, under the title: “The World Needs JFK’s Vision of Peace!” The invitation is here: https://schillerinstitute.nationbuilder.com/conference_20230610
