The Day We Died( Salvation) episode 2

Gen 2:17  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. 

In Genesis chapter 2, The first man was told NOT TO EAT FROM THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL or if he did, he would die that day, When did the first man die? What does the fulfillment of this first covenant mean?
