Speaking with ‘Big Boy’ Chris Jensen of Bare Knuckle News, Barnard got into the details of the matchup.

‘Untameable’ had amateur MMA and kickboxing experience before this bare-knuckle debut. Barnard grew up fighting and doing this kind of stuff but said it was more technical within the BKFC ring as opposed to the streets.

He felt he showcased the true warrior spirit of Hawaii inside the squared circle despite being a bit “shocked” by the bright lights/big stage.

In the first frame, he secured a knockdown, and when asked if he smelled blood in the water to pursue the finish thereafter, Barnard quipped,

“Yep, definitely, definitely. I had to get my feet under myself. You know, this is my first fight after ten years. So I didn’t want to rush into something and I wasn’t ready for it. So I had to feel him out, see if I can take some shots as well. Then I was like, okay, now that I got my feet under me, you know, I could move. I adjusted a little bit.”

“I adjusted pretty quickly and then I was able to capitalize and do exactly what I was saying. You know, I was thinking of the Gervonta Davis fight where he slipped and he did that uppercut and knocked him out. So I was trying to find that, you know, and I was trying to trying to start the night off right - leave an impression that made it hard for everyone else that’s fighting tonight to beat, you know? So hopefully I was able to do that. It was great. I had a great camp. Definitely not as good as I wanted it, because again, I’m fighting at 155. I should be fighting at 125, 135 - I’m here, hopefully I’m here to stay. Dave (Feldman), holla at ya boy (laughs).”

Barnard feels like he’ll be able to show his speed and overall attributes more when cutting down to the lighter weights for his next BKFC go-around.
