Live: UN Security Council holds meeting on Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant

The United Nations Security Council convenes a meeting to discuss the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) at UN HQ in New York on Tuesday, May 30.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi is expected to brief members on the situation at the plant.

The special session, chaired by Switzerland, is set to call for both the Ukrainian and Russian sides to 'comply with the IAEA's nuclear safety principles, in order to avoid the danger of a nuclear catastrophe'.

Both Moscow and Kiev have blamed each other for striking the facility, which came under Russian control in March 2022.
