Tokyo Shrine with photos of Japanese people 100 years ago
Mt. Machiyama Holy Heaven
A mysterious temple that makes you want to visit again and again.
It is one of the shrines and temples that appear here and there in Shotaro Ikenami's novels.
The sanctuary retains the atmosphere of the Edo period (1603-1867), but its foundation is quite old.
It was not built by a great man of the time, but a Buddha found among the common people.
It is gratifying to know that it continues to this day.
We would like many people to know about Waituyama Seiten and enjoy happiness with people.
Introduction to the neighborhood
3 min. walk from Mt. Waitachiyama Holy Heaven [Okita Soji and Maneki Neko] Imado Shrine
8 min. walk from Mt. Machiyama Shoten [Elegant shrine founded by Jikaku Daishi] Ushijima Shrine
10 minutes walk from Mt.

Yoshiwara Shrine, a 17-minute walk from Mt.
When you visit shrines in Tokyo, you are often surprised to find sanctuaries that have been protected by the people.
Flood, fire, earthquake, war, and worship.
Small shrines, shrines perched on the rooftops of buildings, and shrines directly under expressways.
Sanctuaries that are close to people in any form, and the guardians who protect them.
I made this video to share these beautiful images with you!
The Japanese landscape and the Japanese people of the past remain in old photographs.
Some of the photos are around 100 years old, some are about 150 years old, and some are 85 years old.
Please feel the connection with the people of the past!

Someday I will return home.
Mountains are blue, my hometown.
The water is clear.
The Red Dragonfly
Lyrics by Rofu Miki, music by Kosaku Yamada
"Akatonbo, the sunset glow, the red dragonfly
When was the last time you saw me in awe?
"The mulberry tree in the mountain field..."
"I picked the mulberries in my basket..."
"When she was 15, she married.
"and the calls of her hometown ceased to come.
"Sunset, sunset, red dragonflies..."
"It's stuck, the tip of the pole."
Traveling Melancholy
A translation of the original lyrics by Inudo Kukei in 1907.
The original song is "Dreaming of Home and Mother" by John P. Ordway.
(1)
"Late Autumnal Night, Traveling Skies"
"Wistful thoughts haunt me alone"
I miss my hometown, my nostalgic father and mother.
Yumeji ni traced my homeland's road home
"Late, late autumn night, the sky on a journey."
Wabishiki kokoro ni hitori wo anguishimasu (Wistful Thoughts Alone)
(II)
"Window storm, my dreams are broken"
"Far off in the distance, my heart is lost"
I miss my hometown, my nostalgic mother and father.
"In my heart, I see the forest's treetops"
"In the storm that fills the window, my dream is broken"
"Far Away, Far Away, Heart Lost in Heart"
My name is Mayu Noda.
I will introduce the charm of shrines around Tokyo, which I love.
Sometimes temples too.
