Watch my process of building a six-foot-long cutting board. I start by gluing black walnut, maple, cherry wood. Let the wood dry for 48 hours. Pass the laminated wood through an 18-inch planer/surfacer to level out all of the wood. I cut the glued panel down to two 24-inch boards that will be finished into brisket, tri-tip, or roast sized cutting boards. Sanding starts at 80 grit sandpaper and finishes at 400 grit sandpaper. In between I use 100, 120, 150, 180, 220, 320 and finally 400 grit sandpaper. The most difficult part of this particular board is the Juice Groove. I finished the board with a mixture of mineral oil and bees wax that I make myself.
