Our evolving relationship with technology & social media

The new generation sees social media very differently to older generations. There are pros and cons to everything. I was stuck on the negatives. In my mind, screen time was in the same realm as alcohol or drugs. Screens were just one more way to escape reality and avoid ourselves.

It's no secret that I'm anti-escapism. I don't want to avoid my thoughts, feelings and emotions. I don't want to be absent from my relationships and responsibilities.

For these reasons, I've always felt conflicted about contributing to increasing YOUR screen time. I believe it's easy to indulge in escapist behaviours with modern technology.

I've found my own balance. If my screen time is increasing, I ask myself what I'm avoiding.
