Hook: Mustad 3399, #4-#16
Thread: Danville 6/0, Black
Tip: Danville Mylar Tinsel, Gold, #16/18
Body: Wool, Light Green
Wing: Light Slate

The March Dun could (possibly) be the simplest wet fly ever tied. Three ingredients and the fly is complete. It is a simple caddis pattern that casts well fishes well along the bottom or in the mid-water column. I have been unable to find any history on this fly. Most research come up as March Brown but nothing for the March Dun. It is in Ray Bergman's book - Trout (page 437, plate #5) but there is no other information on this fly in the book or in any of the other history books that I have. I assume it was tied as a caddis imitation due to the light green wool body but do not know 100%. Aside from a trout fly I think this would be great for Panfish here in the Midwest. A quick and simple fly that is great for working on your wet fly skills as well as catching fish. - - Enjoy
