In this film, we will talk about who wrote Russian history and when. Every country has what is called an official history. Russia has one too. The widely accepted version of Russian history began to be composed in the early 17th century after the ascension of the first Romanovs to the throne. In the 18th century, this work was put on academic footing. Russian and foreign historians were involved in describing Russia's past. Each of them had their own attitude towards Russia and its history. Each provided their own assessment of the Russian state and its rulers. Therefore, reading and comparing the works of these authors, one understands that everything they wrote cannot be considered the true history of Russia but rather different historical versions proposed by different historians. And ultimately, our knowledge and understanding of Russian history depend on which authors we read. Or rather, which authors we are taught to read from childhood. This film will tell the story of those who composed the official Russian history and those who implanted it into the consciousness of the Russian people.
