Was Koko able to migrate from gorilla consciousness and evolve into a new species, or a new evolutionary trajectory?

Koko, a female western lowland gorilla, ws born on July 4th at the San Francisco Zoo. Dr. Francine Patterson began working with Koko at the age of one, initiating a groundbreaking project to teach Koko sign language in 1972. By 1974 Koko learned her first sign, "eat,” and the Gorilla Foundation was established to support Koko's research and care. By 1980 Koko's vocabulary expanded to over 1000 signs, demonstrating her impressive language acquisition abilities. Koko had many pets during her life and learned to pain and recognize the concepts of death and friendship. Koko passed away on June 19th at the age of 46, leaving behind a legacy of language research, interspecies communication, and advocacy for gorilla conservation.
