The Odaw river was once a recreational spot as well as a fishing source before and during colonial times. The Odaw, also known as the Odawna, is one of the world's most polluted rivers, flowing through Accra from the Abokobi and Adjankote hills, through Ashongman, the Atomic Energy Area, West Legon, Achimota, Alajo, Avenor, Agbogbloshie, and finally into the Korle lagoon and the sea.
