Gray Moore's "Wild Frontier" album, released in 1987. The record was recorded entirely without a human drummer, and Gary programmed the drums with the help of his producer and the inventor of this drum machine/program. The album is dedicated to the memory of Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy, Gary's good friend from the early Belfast days. Phil was supposed to sing lead vocals (or at least shre them with Gary) on "Over the Hills and Far Away" and "Wild Frontier", but he died in January of '86, before recordings began.
This is the initially-offered special edition edition LP which included a second 12" with alternate takes and live versions; especially notable is the heart-wrenching live version of "The Loner" which is 12-minutes long.
Other highlights include 'Thunder Rising', 'Over the Hills...' and the title track.
A cover of the Easybeats' "Friday on My Mind' is also included, and was a minor hit which introduced a new audience to Gary's music.
