The 2023 federal budget called for the new agency for freshwater protection to be headquartered in Winnipeg. Terry Duguid (MP for Winnipeg South and parliamentary secretary to the minister of environment), Kevin Klein (Manitoba environment minister), and Scott Gillingham (mayor of Winnipeg) also take part in the news conference. The prime minister faces questions from reporters on the interim report from David Johnston, the special rapporteur on foreign interference, and about the upcoming four federal byelections scheduled for June 19.
